PROVO, Utah — BYU women’s tennis head coach Holly Hasler announced the signing of Allegra van der Walt, a South African native who will join the Cougars in spring 2026 and officially begin her freshman season in fall 2026.

Van der Walt brings a strong international résumé, competing extensively on the ITF junior circuit and emerging as one of South Africa’s most promising young players. She has earned six ITF singles titles, two ITF doubles championships and multiple runner-up finishes across South Africa and Namibia. She also represented her country at the Africa Junior Tennis Championships, where she helped lead South Africa to a team title and won an individual championship at the under-16 level. She additionally claimed a U-16 national doubles title at the South African Juniors.

Known for her all-court attacking style, Van der Walt excels at finishing points at the net and brings a competitive, high-energy presence to the court. Her international experience provides maturity and a strong foundation as she transitions to college tennis.

"We are excited to another talented international player to our BYU family. Allegra's athleticism, energy and team-first mentality will strengthen our lineup right away. She brings a fresh perspective and a competitive spirit from South African roots that will elevate our program. We can't wait to see her flourish as a Cougar."
