WACO, Texas – The BYU women’s soccer team will face Kansas in the Big 12 Soccer Tournament Championship match Saturday evening in Waco, Texas.

This is BYU’s second appearance in the Big 12 Championship in three years.

Last Time on the Field. The Cougars took on No. 23 Baylor Wednesday night in the Big 12 Soccer Tournament Semifinals, beating the Bears 4-0. 

THE COUGARS. BYU moved to 10-6-4 on the season after taking down the Baylor Bears on Wednesday. Ellie Walbruch scored her second brace of the tournament, while Mattyn Summers-Oviatt and Ella Labrum tallied BYU’s other goals. Labrum’s goal was her first since tearing her ACL at the beginning of the 2024 season. Halle Dixon tallied a career- and team-high two assists in the match. Izzi Stratton, Presley Freeman, Mia Goettsche and Afton Perry also tallied assists. BYU outshot Baylor 21-15, with eight shots on frame compared to the Bears’ three. BYU’s RPI jumped five spots after the win, coming in at No. 25.

THE JAYHAWKS. Kansas overcame a first-half deficit to defeat Colorado, 2-1 in the Big 12 Soccer Tournament Semifinals. After going into the locker room down 1-0, the Jayhawks rallied and scored two unanswered second-half goals to secure the victory and make it to their second-straight Big 12 Championship. The Jayhawks won the Big 12 Tournament last year.

COUGARS VS. JAYHAWKS. BYU and Kansas played on South Field on Thursday, Oct. 23, the final home game of the regular season for the Cougs. The Jayhawks defeated the Cougars 3-1 on their home field. Despite the loss, BYU outshot Kansas 15-12 in that matchup, with both teams having six shots on frame.
