LOS ANGELES — Riley Chamberlain and Jane Hedengren were selected as finalists for the Cross Country Honda Sport Award, the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) announced Monday afternoon.
Chamberlain earned the honor after her fourth-place finish at the national championship. The senior clocked 18:47.00, shattering her previous record by more than 20 seconds. The Loomis, California native received All-America honors for the second straight season. She also finished in the top five at all six meets this season.
Hedengren was named a finalist after finishing runner-up at nationals. The true freshman won every regular-season meet as well as the NCAA Mountain Regional. She set two course records and the new Big 12 Championship record in the 6,000-meters. The Provo, Utah product ran a personal-best 18:29.60 at the Big 12 Championship.
The senior–freshman duo are the first BYU women to be named finalists for the award since Whittni Orton in 2021.
The finalists were selected from the top four finishers at the 2025 NCAA National Championship. Chamberlain and Hedengren join Alabama’s Doris Lemngole and Florida’s Hilda Olemomoi as this year’s honorees.
