Kickoff times and network selections by Big 12 television partners ESPN, FOX and TNT Sports will be announced later in the year.

BYU's 2025 slate includes six home games, beginning with a season opener against Portland State and hosting Stanford at LaVell Edwards Stadium.  Other featured home games include the first-ever trip to Provo by the West Virginia Mountaineers in a Friday-night matchup and the season's annual homecoming game, this time against in-state rival Utah. The Cougars also host TCU and UCF to round out the home schedule.

The schedule also features six road contests and two bye weeks (Sept. 13 and Nov. 1) for the second consecutive year. The Cougars play on the road at East Carolina, Colorado, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Arizona and Cincinnati.

Two of BYU's 2025 opponents finished last year ranked in The Associated Press Top 25 with Iowa State at No. 15 and Colorado at No. 25. TCU received votes in the final poll. Overall, the Cougars will face six teams that played in a bowl game in 2024, including 11-game winner Iowa State, who edged out BYU for a place in conference championship game via tiebreaker rules last season. Along with the Cyclones, BYU's 2025 opponents coming off of bowl appearances include East Carolina, TCU, West Virginia, Texas Tech and the Cougars' Alamo Bowl opponent Colorado.

For the second straight season, the Cougars face 10 power-conference opponents in its 12-game regular season. The nonconference slate for BYU includes FCS opponent Portland State of the Big Sky Conference, Stanford from the Atlantic Coast Conference and East Carolina out of American Athletic Conference.

BYU will play nine conference games in the Big 12, with five on the road and four at LaVell Edwards Stadium in 2025. Only four opponents repeat on the league slate from last season, including bowl opponent Colorado this time as a regular-season matchup. BYU also gets repeat games against Arizona, UCF and Utah.

Big 12 teams on the schedule that the Cougars didn't see in 2024 include West Virginia, Iowa State, Texas Tech, TCU and Cincinnati.

The Cougars will see two teams (Colorado and Iowa State) of the three other programs  that shared a first-place tie atop the 2024 standings with BYU at 7-2, and two of the three that finished with the next-best record (6-3) in Big 12 play last season in Texas Tech and TCU. The Cougars face three of those opponents on the road (Colorado, Iowa State and Texas Tech).

This year, BYU does not face Arizona State, Baylor, Kansas State, Kansas, Houston or Oklahoma State in the regular season.

The Big 12 Championship game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The University of Utah arrives at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 18 for the first time since 2021 and the 97th game in the historic series—the longest-running series in school history.

This year's game marks the first time since 1967 the two teams have met in the month of October. The game was often played in October in the first four decades of the series, with 33 matchups from 1922-1967 taking place in the 10th month of the year. The rivalry was played early in the season during BYU's run in independence, with seven games played in August or September from 2011-2021.

BYU has won the last two games and will be attempting to win three in a row for the first time since a stretch of four consecutive wins from 1989-1992.

Last season in one of the most thrilling contests of the year, another chapter was written in the classic game with BYU coming back in the final minute. Backed up to their own end zone to start the drive, the Cougars survived a fourth-down attempt thanks to a Utah penalty and moved down the field to set up Will Ferrin for a 44-yard field goal attempt with just a few ticks on the clock. Ferrin's kick went through the uprights for the 22-21 victory.

The Cougars broke a streak of nine losses in a row to the Utes in 2021, the last game in Provo. BYU dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides and quarterback Jaren Hall threw three touchdowns to put the Cougars back in the win column.

Last year, the Utes finished their inaugural year in the Big 12 at 5-7 overall and 2-7 in the league, missing a bowl game for just the first time since 2013 (not including the COVID-19 year in 2020).

Former BYU linebacker Kyle Whittingham returns to his alma mater in his 21st season as Utah's head coach, one of the longest-tenured coaches in the sport. Whittingham is 167-86 with the Utes.

The two schools met in 2023 in Provo and it was all Iowa State at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The Cyclones won 45-13 and outgained the Cougars 443 to 318.

In 2024, Iowa State tied with BYU along with Arizona State and Colorado for first place in the Big 12 at 7-2 and won the tiebreaker against the Cougars to play in the conference championship against the Sun Devils. The Cyclones fell in the title game but went on to win the Pop Tarts Bowl against No. 13 Miami to finish 11-3 overall and No. 15 in the final polls.

Head coach Matt Campbell, who has been at Iowa State since 2016, has led the Cyclones to bowls in seven of nine seasons and is 64-51 at Iowa State. Campbell came from Toledo where he led the Rockets to a 35-15 record in four years before heading to Iowa State.

BYU and the TCU Horned Frogs match up at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 15.

The two schools have met 12 times, including their years as Mountain West Conference foes from 2005-2010. TCU has beaten the Cougars five consecutive games.

TCU hosted BYU in 2023 and won 44-11 at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas. The Horned Frogs took control early and the Cougars struggled to keep up during their first Big 12 season.

The two schools matched up in one of LaVell Edwards Stadium's wildest contests in 2005 when TCU outlasted BYU in a 51-50 overtime game. Both teams combined for 1,089 total yards, including 517 passing yards from Cougar quarterback John Beck. BYU led by 12 in the fourth quarter but surrendered 15 points to the Frogs in the final minutes before a BYU field goal sent the game to overtime. After a touchdown but a missed two-point conversion in overtime by the Cougars, TCU converted on their two-pointer to win it.

Last season, TCU quietly put together a 9-4 season and a 6-3 mark in the Big 12 and received votes in the final national polls. The Frogs closed the season winning four in a row, including a dominant 34-3 victory in the New Mexico Bowl over Louisiana.

Sonny Dykes returns for his fourth season at TCU and 15th overall as a head coach, with stops at Louisiana Tech, Cal and SMU before heading to Fort Worth. Dykes is 98-76 overall, with a Big 12 title and appearance in the College Football Playoff national championship game in 2022.
