PROVO, Utah — BYU softball senior Hailey Morrow was ranked No. 9 on D1Softball's Preseason Shortstop Rankings, the outlet announced on Thursday morning.

Morrow was one of two Big 12 shortstops named to the 10-player list.

The 5-foot-9 Las Vegas, Nevada, native led the Cougars with 104 assists while posting a .972 fielding percentage at short last season, starting and playing in all but one of BYU's 49 contests.

At the plate, Morrow ranked third on the team with 11 home runs and fifth with a .310 batting average. She recorded 44 hits, 43 runs, 32 RBI, 22 walks and eight doubles, while posting a .599 slugging percentage and .413 on-base percentage.

Morrow is now the fourth Cougar to receive preseason recognition this year. Freshmen Kaiya Fabela and Rita Tavita were both named to national freshmen watch lists, while Ilove'a Brittingham earned a No. 49 ranking on D1Softball’s D100 Preseason Player Rankings earlier this week.

BYU will begin its 2026 slate at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida, on Thursday, Feb. 5.
