PROVO, Utah — No. 22 BYU gymnastics hits the road for the first Big 12 matchup of the season at ASU Friday evening.

THE COUGARS. No. 22 BYU last competed against Boise State in the Marriott Center on Friday, Jan. 16, beating the Broncos 196.300-195.025. The Cougars’ new season-high beam (49.125) and floor (49.275) scores propelled them to a new season-high team score and second home victory of the season. BYU gymnasts took the top spot on podium for all four events. Three scores of 9.9 by Kylie Eaquinto, Deb Silva and Brynlee Andersen-Broekman closed out BYU’s floor rotation and secured the victory for the Cougars. BYU faced Arizona State twice last season, once in the Marriott Center and once at a quad meet hosted by Cal. The Cougars beat ASU at home 196.775-196, but lost at the quad meet 196.800-196.325. 

THE SUN DEVILS. ASU last competed at Kentucky on Friday, Jan. 16, beating the Wildcats 195.750-194.325. This was Kentucky’s first home loss since 2016. Three ASU gymnasts earned new season highs on floor, and two gymnasts earned season-best all-around scores. ASU welcomes the Cougars to Desert Financial Arena on the 50th anniversary celebration of Sun Devil Gymnastics.
