PROVO, Utah – The Cougars will travel to Philadelphia for the Penn Elite Invitational on Jan. 23-24 at Penn’s Ott Center.

Friday’s events will feature the pentathlon, with Zoey Bonds and Tia Brown competing. Bonds ranks fifth in program history in the event after scoring 4,105 points at the 2025 BYU December Indoor Invitational. Brown won the long jump at the Weber State Indoor Invitational this month with a leap of 5.97m/19-7.

The throws group is highlighted by senior Lia Katoa, who recently rose to No. 9 on the program’s weight throw list with a mark of 17.60m/57-9 at the Weber State Indoor Invitational. Katoa will compete in the event again Saturday. Stanford transfer Kaiah Fisher will also compete in the shot put after winning the event at Weber State with a throw of 13.85m/45-5.25.

Cailee Faulkner and Abbie Scott finished first and second, respectively, in the pole vault at Weber State and return to action this weekend. Mae Johnson co-won the high jump with teammate Bonds, as both cleared 1.52m/5-9.

Bonds is also set to compete in the 60-meter hurdles. The Las Vegas native won the 55m hurdles at Weber State with a time of 7.85 seconds.

The sprints group is expected to be headlined by Paje Rasmussen, who broke jumps and multis coach Tiffany Hogan’s 22-year-old facility record at Stromberg Arena. Rasmussen finished the 55m in 6.85 seconds, ranking No. 2 in program history.

BYU will be joined by host Penn, Villanova, UConn, Howard, Georgetown, Princeton, West Point, Penn State, Wisconsin and Navy.
