PROVO, Utah — No. 7 BYU men's volleyball will host two matches at the Smith Fieldhouse this weekend against the Menlo College Oaks, Friday and Saturday.

About the Cougars

BYU is back home after playing five straight matches on the road, sweeping two matches in Santa Barbara two weekends ago and sweeping three matches at the Harvard Invitational in Boston this past weekend.

The Cougars now sit at 9-2 this season, with their only two losses both coming in five sets against No. 5 UC Irvine.

Junior outside hitter/opposite Teilon-Jonathan Tufuga led BYU with eight kills on 11 swings in the Cougars’ most recent match against Merrimack. In his past two matches, Tufuga has racked up 20 kills on 26 attempts, with no errors. Tufuga also had three aces against Merrimack, now having racked up eight aces in his past three matches.

Senior outside hitter Trent Moser continues to lead the Cougars offensively this season with 3.42 kills per set on a .361 hitting percentage. He’s been extremely consistent for BYU, racking up between 10-14 kills in nine of the team’s 11 total matches.

BYU is currently leading the NCAA in blocks per set at 2.829. Gavin Chambers is the Cougars’ individual leader with 1.26 blocks per set and 48 total blocks this season. His blocks per set are eighth-best individually in the NCAA.

About Menlo

The Menlo Oaks, out of Atherton, California, are competing in their second season in the MPSF. After a 13-13 record last season, the Oaks are 0-5 to start this season.

It’s the first season for head coach Ali’i Keohohou who spent the previous four season as the head coach at Mount Olive.

Sophomore Ty Carson leads Menlo in kills and points. He's the lone returning starter for the Oaks from last season's squad. Mark Ensalaco and Keau Thompson are other offensive contributors. Garrett Hockman leads the team in blocks.
