THE COUGARS. No. 23 BYU took on the SUU Thunderbirds at America First Event Center on Friday, Feb. 6. The Cougars scored a season best 196.975 to overcome SUU’s 196.000, their best team score since the Big 12 Championship in 2024. BYU has now won back-to-back meets, one at home and one on the road. Since 1999, the Cougs and Utes have faced 32 times, with Utah holding a perfect 32-0 record. Since Utah joined the Big 12 conference in 2025, the teams have met four times, including once earlier this season at the Best of Utah competition.
THE UTES. No. 12 Utah last competed at No. 18 Arizona on Friday, Feb. 6 in Tucson, Arizona. The Utes rolled past the Wildcats, scoring a 197.125, remaining undefeated in Big 12 competition. The Red Rocks also earned two Big 12 weekly awards, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Avery Neff was named Gymnast of the Week after scoring a 39.625 in the all-around, while Camie Winger earned Event Specialist of the Week honors after earning a 9.950 on beam.
