WEYMOUTH, Mass. — The BYU men's tennis team improved to 8-0 for the first time since 2010 with a 5-2 win over Boston College (2-2) Friday evening at the Weymouth Tennis Club.
"It was a great experience for the team, collecting four wins on the road was big and with each match we’re continuing to identify areas where we can keep improving," head coach Zack Warren said. "We just need to keep working, keep building, which will serve us well as the season progresses. We’re excited to get back to work and compete at home next Saturday against Idaho State."
After sweeping its previous two matches on the road, the Cougars found themselves down for the first time on the trip after suffering losses on all three tightly contested doubles courts.
Down 1-0, BYU bounced back in singles, where every court featured a straight-set, starting with Adam Chodur, who responded from a doubles loss with a 6-2, 6-3 win to even the match at 1-1. Soon after, Caden Hasler claimed his court with a pair of 6-2 wins, marking the freshman’s second straight-set victory of the road trip. Tygen Goldammer then continued his undefeated singles season with a 6-4, 6-3 win. David Duong and TJ Wells mirrored each other with similar outings as both swept their courts with a pair of 6-4 wins, the first of which by Wells earned BYU its fourth point and clinched the match for the Cougars.
