SAN MARCOS, Tex. — BYU softball fell to No. 9/11 Arkansas in five innings, 11-1 at Bobcat Softball Stadium on Saturday morning.

BOX SCORE

The Cougars (1-8, 0-0 Big 12) had at least one runner on in four of the five innings, but plated just one run in the contest.

Player Highlights

After a Lily Owens leadoff walk and Hailey Shuler sacrifice bunt to open the game, BYU grounded out twice after moving Owens.

Arkansas loaded the bases in the bottom of the first, but started Jada Villegas induced a first-pitch groundout to get out of the jam.

The Razorbacks were able to get one on the board in the second on two singles, a wild pitch and sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead.

Both teams got runners on in the third, but were unable to score.

The Cougars evened things up in the fourth with doubles down both lines. Lexie Bennett slapped a double down the left field line, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on a Maddie Udall-Woolley double down the right field chalk, tying the contest at one.

Arkansas proceeded to bat around the order in the home half of the fourth, putting up seven runs off four hits and two BYU errors to go in front 8-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Razorbacks put two runners on in a single and walk before a walk-off home run to right ended the game via run-rule, 11-1.
