THE COUGARS. No. 24 BYU last faced then-No. 16 Denver at the Marriott Center, outlasting the Pioneers 196.575-195.925. BYU gymnasts took the top spot on the podium for all four events. Kylie Eaquinto led on vault (9.850) and floor (9.950), both season highs for the senior. Alilah Alvarado and Ava Jorgensen shared the top spot for bars with a pair of 9.875s, while Brynlee Andersen-Broekman’s 9.875 led the meet on beam.
THE MOUNTAINEERS. West Virginia last faced the Arizona Wildcats at the McKale Center, falling 196.65-194.65. The Mountaineers have lost three-straight competitions dating back to the beginning of February, and sit at 1-3 in Big 12 matchups this season. Their highest team score came on January 30 as the Mountaineers posted a 195.875 to take home a quad-meet win over Kent State, Cornell and Pitt.
COUGARS VS. MOUNTAINEERS. BYU and WVU have faced four times since the Cougars joined the Big 12 conference. The Cougars hold a perfect 4-0 record against the Mountaineers, with the most recent meeting being at the first session of the 2025 Big 12 Championships. In that meet, BYU outscored West Virginia 196.275-194.875.
