AZUSA, Calif. – Zoey Bonds posted the No. 6 all-time mark in program history in the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Multis at Cougar Stadium on Friday.

Through day one, both Bonds and Tia Brown sat fifth in their respective sections of the heptathlon, each recording their best finish in the 100-meter hurdles with second-place finishes. Brown posted a career-best 13.77, nearly 0.4 seconds faster than her previous best, while Bonds ran 13.49.

In the high jump, Bonds tied for third, while Brown finished fifth. Bonds cleared an outdoor-best 1.71m/5-7.25, and the freshman jumped 1.62m/5-3.75. After an eighth-place finish in the shot put for Brown and an 11th-place finish for Bonds, both athletes rebounded with career-best performances in the 200m. Bonds finished in 24.66, with Brown just 0.4 seconds behind.

Bonds recorded another outdoor best in the long jump Friday, leaping 5.79m/19-0 to place sixth. Brown jumped 5.52m/18-1.5.

In the javelin, Brown threw 30.42m/99-9, while Bonds recorded a mark of 5.79m/19-0 to place sixth.

Brown added another career best in the 800m, finishing in 2:18.74 to take third and move into fifth overall with 5,289 points. Bonds also placed fifth overall, finishing the 800m in 2:21.52. The senior totaled 5,592 points.
