In the bottom of the first, after holding the Cyclones off the board, the Cougars scored the first run of the game on their first hit when Owens hit her 10th home run of the season just over the right field wall.
Iowa State took the lead in the second when it took advantage of loaded bases with back-to-back walks.
To start the fourth, the Cyclones added to their lead with a pair of runs, including their first home run, to make it 4-1.
After two scoreless innings, BYU got back on the board when a single from Bennett drove in Miranda Mansfield from second base to cut the lead to 4-2.
With Hailey Morrow on first after subbing in for Townsend, a two-out bloop single by Bennett dropped past an outstretched ISU glove to put a pair of Cougars on base. BYU capitalized on the opportunity with a hit down the left field line from Acosta that brought both runners home.
Down 5-4, the Cougars evened the score when Owens delivered a low line drive up the middle, bringing home Acosta for a run in her season-high seventh straight game.
After holding Iowa State scoreless in the top of the seventh, BYU needed just one run to clinch the win. It took only one batter, as Udall-Woolley hammered a walk-off home run over the center field wall to secure the 6-5 comeback victory.
