FORT WORTH - On Thursday, the No. 67 Cougars fell 4-0 to No. 5 TCU at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
With the loss, BYU falls to 13-6 on the season as well as 1-4 in Big 12 play, while TCU improved to 16-5 with its third straight victory.
In doubles play, all three courts were close as the score was 3-2 in favor of the home side to get the all-important opening point. The Cougars battled back on courts No. 1 and No. 2 to make it 4-4 on the first two courts, while the Horned Frogs pulled away with a 5-3 advantage on Court No. 3.
To close out doubles, BYU lost on court No. 3 with a 6-3 setback, while the other two went to tiebreakers. The opening point eventually went to TCU when they got the 7-3 tiebreaker win on Court No. 2.
As the match moved to singles, the Cougars fell on the back four courts but saw opening set wins from Adam Chodur and Tygen Goldammer, who were both facing ranked players, with Chodur getting a 6-4 win against No. 5 Duncan Chan and Goldammer outdoing No. 52 Cooper Woestendick 6-3. Before either of these courts could finish, the match was clinched, with the Horned Frogs earning three straight-set wins to take the 4-0 result.
BYU will continue its road trip on Saturday in Waco with a match against the Baylor Bears. Live scoring as well as a livestream will be provided.
