WACO, Texas – No. 67 BYU men’s tennis ended its road trip with another 4-0 defeat, falling to No. 9 Baylor Saturday evening at the Hurd Tennis Center.

This was the Cougars’ final out-of-state match of the regular season. With the loss, BYU moves to 13-7 overall and 1-5 in Big 12 play, marking its fourth consecutive defeat. 

Adam Chodur and Tygen Goldammer each faced ranked opponents in both of their singles matches this weekend. Chodur’s Court One matches against TCU and Baylor were both against top-10 opponents as he went a combined 2-1 in completed sets. Goldammer matched that performance, also going 2-1 in finished sets against No. 52 and No. 34 from the Bears.

In doubles, Chodur and Otto Schreiner kept pace on Court One, but on Courts Two and Three, Baylor began to pull away. With Chodur and Schreiner leading 4-3 in early on, the Bears captured the opening point with decisive wins on the two back courts.

The Cougars found a spark early in singles after falling behind 1-0. Goldammer and Caden Hasler each secured close first-set wins, 7-5, while Chodur earned a convincing 6-2 victory, splitting the opening sets across the three courts.

Baylor responded in the second set with wins on each of these courts, forcing third sets. The Bears ultimately clinched the 4-0 victory with additional wins on the remaining courts, including a 7-3 opening-set tiebreaker over David Duong and a 7-4 second-set tiebreaker win over Yubel Ubri. The match concluded with a 7-5 win over Duong.

BYU returns home next Thursday for Senior Night against Arizona State at the Outdoor Tennis Courts at 5 p.m. MDT.
