PROVO, Utah — BYU’s TJ Wells and Otto Schreiner were selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday morning.
The 2026 Academic All-District Men’s Tennis Team, selected by College Spors Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Wells, a junior from Alpine, earns CSC Academic All-District honors for a second straight year after appearing in all 22 matches for the Cougars in 2026 where he won a team-high 14 double matches, 12 of those coming with Tygen Goldammer.
The duo won their first eight matches of the spring season including back-to-back 6-1 victories over Adrian Quiros and Ege Topkoc of Boston College and Aayush Jhaveri and Colton Parker of Holy Cross.
The finance major is 18-13 all-time in singles and 35-22 in doubles play. He won 11 singles matches as a sophomore in 2024-25, tied for the most on the team with Adam Chodur.
Schreiner, an accounting major, won nine of his 15 career double matches this spring playing on the No. 1 doubles court with Chodur.
The duo qualified for the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Singles and Double Championships in the fall of 2025 after winning the ITA Regionals in Las Vegas. They fell 6-1, 6-2 in the Round of 32 to North Carolina’s Ian Mayew and Kase Schinnerer.
The Edina, Minn. native finished the season strong on the doubles court with Chodur picking up wins over Arizona State’s Roi Ginat and Jelani Sarr and Utah’s Balthazar Huss and Dante Teramo.
