PROVO, Utah — No. 24 men’s golf will head to Athens, Georgia as the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Athens Regional at University of Georgia Golf Club from May 18-20.
This is the 28th regional appearance for the Cougars since its inception in 1989, and will be the final one in the Bruce Brockbank era. If BYU finishes top-5 or better, they will advance to the NCAA National Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
BYU will roll out a lineup consisting of Kihei Akina, Peter Kim, Simon Kwon, Tyson Shelley and Parker Bunn, with Jackson Mauss as a sub.
The Cougars will participate in a 13-team field at UGA Golf Club. No. 1 Auburn, No. 12 Illinois, No. 13 Vanderbilt, host Georgia, Louisville, Kansas, Northwestern, Charleston, Rice, Southern Mississippi, Harvard and Howard. An additional 10 players out of Fairfield, Louisiana, Stetson, Alabama A&M, North Alabama, UAB, South Alabama, Coastal Carolina and Kennesaw State will compete as individuals.
This tournament will be a 54-hole event, with the opening 18 holes teeing off for BYU on Monday at 8:30 a.m. MDT on hole 10. Follow live scoring on Scoreboard, with live coverage of each round streaming on babygrandegolf.com.
