PROVO, Utah — Seedings for the 2026 Big 12 Baseball Tournament presented by Allstate were announced Saturday evening following the conclusion of the regular season. No. 9 seed BYU will face No. 12 seed Texas Tech on Tuesday, May 19 at Surprise (Arizona) Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 4:30 p.m. MST (5:30 MDT).
REGULAR SEASON RECAP: BYU wrapped up the 2026 regular season on Saturday with 5-4 victory over Big 12 regular-season champion Kansas in Provo. The win gave the Cougars 27-27 record on the year and 14-16 mark in Big 12 play, good for an eighth-place tie in the league. Meanwhile the Red Raiders, who also finished the regular season at 27-27, were 10-20 in conference play and finished 12th.
REWIND. BYU and TTU will meet for the fourth time in 2026 on Tuesday. The Red Raiders took two-of-three games from the Cougars (2-1, 3-12, 15-11) in the Big 12 series at Rip Griffin Park in Lubbock, Texas, May 7-9.
SERIES HISTORY. The two schools will compete for the 18th time in baseball on Tuesday. BYU and TTU have only met once previously at a neutral site, where the Cougars defeated Red Raiders 4-1 at the Rawlings Phoenix Invitational, Feb. 19, 1998, at the Phoenix (Arizona) Municipal Stadium. The 1998 game was also the first baseball game played between the two universities.
Texas Tech leads the overall series 11-6 and has a 10-3 advantage in Lubbock. BYU leads the series in Provo 2-1 and is 1-0 at a neutral site.
CONFERENCE TOURNEY RECORD. Since 1963, BYU baseball has played in 102 conference tournament games with an overall record of 51-51. The Cougars are 1-1 in the Big 12, 5-10 in the West Coast Conference, 26-22 in the Mountain West and 19-18 in the Western Athletic Conference.
BROADCAST PLANS. Tuesday’s game will be broadcast live on ESPN+. The games will also be available on the BYU Radio app, BYUradio.org, SiriusXM 143 and 107.9 FM in Utah County with Greg Wrubell providing play-by-play.
