PROVO, Utah — BYU softball fell in game two to No. 25 Arizona State, 10-2 at Gail Miller Field on Friday night.

With the defeat, the Cougars (18-32, 7-16 Big 12) were eliminated from Big 12 Championship contention.

Player Highlights

The Sun Devils jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second on a three-run home run and single up the middle.

BYU got a run back in the third after Tristen Turlington led off the inning with a triple down the right field line and Miranda Mansfield single through the left side, making it 4-1, ASU.

After a quiet fourth frame, Arizona State added three more in the top of the fifth on five base hits and a fielder’s choice, going in front 7-1.

The Sun Devils scored again in the sixth and seventh innings on four singles, a double, fielder’s choice, passed ball and wild pitch for a 10-1 advantage.

The Cougars plated one in the home half of the seventh on an Irma Urincho double to the track in right center. She came home on a Turlington ground out for a final score of 10-2.
