Big 12 announces 2026-27 Men’s Basketball schedule matrix

The Cougars will play 18 Big 12 games for a second consecutive season.

IRVING, Texas — The Big 12 Conference announced the schedule matrix for the 2026-27 men’s basketball season on Thursday afternoon.

Big 12 teams will play 18 league games for a second consecutive season, including a home-and-home with three schools while facing the remaining 12 schools once. Opponents were selected to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness. A full Big 12 scheduled will be released at a later date.

The home-and-home series for the Cougars in year three of the Kevin Young Era will be Utah, Arizona and TCU. They will host Kansas, K-State, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Cincinnati and West Virginia while making the trip to Arizona State, Colorado, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Houston and UCF.

The Cougars return five players from a team that went 23-12 in 2025-26, including the program’s 33rd trip to the NCAA Tournament. Robert Wright III returns for his junior season after earning Third Team All-Big 12 accolades last season, averaging 18.1 points and 4.6 assists per game. The 6-foot-1 guard scored in double figures 32 times, including a career-high 39 points in BYU’s overtime victory over Colorado on Valentine’s Day.

Wright III is joined on the roster by transfers Collin Chandler (Kentucky), Tyler Betsey (Syracuse) and Jake Wahlin (Clemson). Bruce Branch III, No. 6 in SCNext 100, is joined by fellow freshmen Dean Rueckert and Brooks Bahr.
