KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Tyson Shelley was named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators in the men’s at-large category on Tuesday.
The senior was recognized as an honoree for showing excellence on the course and in the classroom.
In order to qualify, a student-athlete must hold a GPA of 3.5 or higher, be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically, and have competed in 70 percent of the team’s tournaments or the conference championship.
Shelley received a 3.88 as a communications studies major in his final academic year. The Salt Lake native participated in 13 of 14 events for the Cougars, and notched his career-best finish of third place at The Preserve Golf Club Collegiate to highlight his season. Shelley put up a 72.33 scoring average, his personal best output in a single season.
