FARMINGTON, Utah — BYU women’s golfers Whitney Banz, Berlin Long, Aadyn Long, Ava Schroeder and Nya Palmer will compete in the 120th Utah Women’s State Amateur Championship beginning Monday at Oakridge Country Club.
BYU has a strong history at the championship. In 2025, Banz earned medalist honors after shooting a 4-under-par 68 in stroke-play qualifying, but the senior fell in the Round of 16.
Sisters Berlin and Aadyn Long each reached the quarterfinals of the 2025 championship. Berlin Long fell to eventual champion Arden Louchheim.
Since 1980, BYU golfers and alumni have combined to win the event 20 times, most recently when Lila Galeai won the title in 2021.
The tournament will mark the first Utah Women’s State Amateur appearance for Schroeder and Palmer.
Recent BYU graduate Sunbin Seo will also compete. Seo previously played in the championship in 2020 and 2023. She recorded a hole-in-one during her quarterfinal match in 2020.
