NEW ORLEANS - Taylor Lovell was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) Outdoor Co-National Scholar Athlete of the Year, the organization announced Monday afternoon.
Lovell earned First Team Academic All-America honors following a standout season highlighted by her NCAA title in the 3000m steeplechase. She won the national championship in a personal-best 9:21.03, becoming BYU’s first outdoor national champion since Courtney Wayment in 2022. The Gilbert, Ariz. native also captured the Big 12 championship in the event and recorded the fourth-fastest 5000m time in program history at the Stanford Invitational with a 15:15.46. An exercise and wellness major, Lovell carries a 3.60 GPA.
Lovell is the first BYU woman to be awarded the post-season outdoor honor.
