PAGO PAGO, American Samoa — BYU softball's Rita Tavita was named to the 18-player American Samoa roster for the 2026 USA Softball International Cup, the American Samoa Softball Association (ASA) announced on Wednesday.

The International Cup will be held at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, home of the Women's College World Series, from July 30-Aug. 3.

It will feature five top-10 countries in No. 1 Japan, No. 2 USA, No. 3 Canada, No. 6 Chinese Taipei and No. 10 Australia, along with No. 19 China and Team USA Elite.

Tavita recently competed with American Samoa at the Canada Cup from July 3-12 alongside Cougar alumni Huntyr Ava and Martha Epenesa.

American Samoa faced Chinese Taipei, the 222's, Singapore, Canada Elite, Israel, TC Colorado, Peru and Chinese Taipei Development at the British Columbia tournament, winning five of its 10 games.

The right-handed pitcher/outfielder from Salt Lake City, Utah played in 43 of the Cougars' 51 games this past season, starting 37 of them.

She finished with the second-most doubles (7) and third-most walks on the team (19), while also posting BYU's fourth-best on-base percentage (.381).
