GREENSBORO, North Carolina — BYU baseball has earned the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack.
The award annually recognizes ABCA member institutions from all levels of collegiate baseball that achieve a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year.
The BYU baseball team posted a 3.52 cumulative GPA during the 2025-26 academic year and featured four student-athletes who were named Academic All-District by CSC — Bryker Hurdsman, Ashton Johnson, Matt Hansen and Cayson Bell.
In addition, a total of 21 members of the 2026 baseball squad were previously honored with academic awards by the Big 12 Conference, including Hurdsman, Johnson and Ryker Schow, who received conference’s highest academic honor, the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award.
BYU is one of nine Big 12 programs to receive the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award, alongside Arizona, Baylor, Cincinnati, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Utah and West Virginia.
The ABCA has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of collegiate baseball coaches and student-athletes dating back to 1949 with the annual ABCA/Rawlings All-America Team. The ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards and the National Coach of the Year Award.
