NEW YORK CITY – Carlee Hansen-Thompson highlighted BYU's opening day at the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships on Thursday, advancing to the women's 1500-meter final at Icahn Stadium.
Hansen-Thompson clocked a 4:04.92 in the 1500-meter, just over a second faster than her previous personal best to remain No. 2 in program history. The recent BYU graduate took fourth in her heat and sixth overall in the first round and will line up for the final Saturday at 3:40 p.m. MST.
Paje Rasmussen qualified for Friday's 100m semifinal with an 11.70. Rasmussen will be joined by Cougar alumna Jaslyn Gardner, who notched the sixth-fastest first round time in 11.13 and took second in her heat. Friday's semifinal is scheduled for 4:11 p.m. MST. Should they advance, the final will be held at 5:45 p.m. MST Friday.
