Oblad qualifies for 400m final on second day of USATF Outdoor Championships

NEW YORK CITY – Sami Oblad advanced to the 400-meter final after clocking a 51.95 on the second day of the USATF Outdoor Championships Friday at Icahn Stadium.

Oblad's time of 51.95 was the fourth-fastest in her heat and seventh overall. She will line up with the other eight qualifiers for the final Saturday at 12:59 p.m. MDT.

After taking second in her semifinal heat, BYU alumna Jaslyn Gardner placed fifth in the 100m final in 11.03. Paje Rasmussen finished 18th overall in the 100m semifinals among 24 competitors. Rasmussen will return to the track Saturday at 12:05 p.m. MDT for the first round of the 200m.

Former Cougar and current Nike Swoosh Track Club member Meghan Hunter earned a berth in Sunday's 800m final after placing second in her semifinal in 2:00.38.
