BERTHOUD, Colo. – BYU standout Kihei Akina and alumni Carson Lundell and Daniel Summerhays will compete at the Korn Ferry Tour’s The Blue Championship beginning on Thursday at TPC Colorado.
Akina and the two former Cougars are set to compete in the 72-hole stroke-play event as part of a 156-player field, July 9-12. Following 36 holes, the field will be cut to the top 65 players and ties before the final 36 holes on Saturday and Sunday.
The rising sophomore earned a sponsor’s exemption into the field by carding a tournament-record 21-under 195 at the 2026 Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational in March and claiming the individual title. Akina has previously competed in three PGA Tour events and two Korn Ferry Tour events. His last appearance came at the 2026 Puerto Rico Open, where he finished tied for 16th just hours before shooting 14-under par to win the R.E. Lamkin Invitational.
Lundell earned a spot in the field by shooting a 7-under 65 during Monday’s open qualifier. The former Cougar will be making his sixth start on the Korn Ferry Tour this week.
Summerhays will join Akina and Lundell in the field for his 12th Korn Ferry start of the season.
