IRVING, Texas — No. 9 BYU women’s soccer freshman Brynnli Tolbert was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
No. 9 BYU opened the 2026 season on Wednesday, Aug. 12 against then-NO. 9 UCLA. With the game tied 1-1, Tolbert scored the game-winning goal in the 60th minute to lift the Cougars over the Bruins, 2-1.
Tolbert played 57 minutes on the pitch and scored on her lone shot of the match, helping BYU bring home a top-10 road victory to start the season.
The Cougars face Wisconsin in another road contest tonight at 6 p.m. MT. The match will be streamed on B1G+.
