BYU takes on Idaho St. in Saturday Exhibition

Originally scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, BYU's match against the Bengals will now be played at 8 p.m. MT Saturday night on South Field.

PROVO, Utah – The BYU women’s soccer team takes on its first 2026 opponent as Idaho State comes to town for an exhibition match Saturday evening.

THE COUGARS. BYU women’s soccer (0-0, 0-0 Big 12) opened its 2026 season with the annual Blue/White scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 1, at South Field. The Blue team took home the win, courtesy of a header goal by forward captain Ellie Walbruch. The Cougars are coming off another winning season, going 11-7-6 overall in 2025. BYU won its first Big 12 Tournament title and made a run in the postseason, falling to Stanford in the Sweet 16. The Cougars come into the 2026 season ranked No. 6 in the Big 12 and receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason poll.

THE BENGALS. Idaho State (0-0, 0-0 Big Sky) went 5-8-4 last season, with a conference record of 2-4-2. The Bengals went 4-4-2 on their home turf in Pocatello, Idaho and notched five shutouts. 

COUGARS VS. BENGALS. BYU leads the overall series 9-2, going 7-1 at South Field. The last time the teams met was in 2021 when the Cougars took home a 7-0 victory. In that game, BYU outshot Idaho State 32-0. Current BYU soccer Director of Player Development Mikayla Cluff scored a hat trick and tallied one assist in that match.
