PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s volleyball head coach Shawn Olmstead announced the hiring of assistant coach Mike Rogers on Tuesday.
"All of us here at BYU are excited about the addition of Mike to our team," Olmstead said. "From the first contact we had about this opportunity, Mike displayed great enthusiasm for the game and especially for the community that is BYU volleyball. He's mentored a handful of great players over the years and guided them to their next phases of their playing careers. I'm certain Mike will fit right into our team and make big strides from day one."
Rogers joins the Cougars after serving as the head coach of the UVU men’s volleyball club team from 2017-26. During his time at UVU, he compiled a 143-66 record and led the Wolverines to three conference titles in 2019, 2025 and 2026. Additionally, UVU recorded seven top-10 national finishes since 2017.
While at UVU, Rogers was a member coach of Gold Medal Squared, a volleyball coach training program. He coached camps and clinics in 47 states and numerous countries around the world while developing coaching and coach education resources.
Additionally, from 2018-19, he worked as a coach for Rukkus, a competitive indoor men’s volleyball team based in Southern California that competes in the Volleyball League of America (VLA).
His playing career began in 2004 at Orange Coast College, followed by a four-year stint from 2007-11 on UVU’s club team. During that time, he was named to the All-Mountain West team twice and was named the Orange County Cup MVP in 2010.
Following his collegiate career, Rogers played for USAV Club West Coast from 2011-13, where he was named Best Setter and Best Server twice. In 2013, he was named the team’s MVP.
Rogers currently resides in Vineyard, Utah.
