SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah — BYU women’s golfers Ava Schroeder, Aadyn Long and Berlin Long finished in the top 25 at the Wolverine Invitational at TalonsCove Golf Club on Tuesday.
Schroeder shot a 2-under 214 with rounds of 71, 72 and 71 to place fourth and earn her first collegiate top-five finish. The three golfers competed as individuals, while BYU did not compete as a team.
“I’m most proud of sticking to my game plan, focusing on one shot at a time and trusting my start lines with each shot,” Schroeder said. “I kept calm and confident throughout the rounds.”
Schroeder opened the first round with birdies on Nos. 5 and 7 and a bogey on No. 6 to make the turn at 1 under. After a bogey on No. 11, the junior made consecutive birdies on Nos. 13 and 14 to finish the round at 1-under 71.
In the second round, Schroeder carded an even-par 72. The Idaho native opened with birdies on Nos. 4 and 5 before making bogeys on Nos. 10 and 13 to finish the first day of the tournament.
The junior shot a 1-under 71 in the final round to post a career-best 214 over 54 holes. Schroeder made bogeys on Nos. 6 and 8 and birdies on Nos. 7 and 9 to make the turn at even par. On the back nine, she made birdies on Nos. 13 and 16 before a bogey on the final hole.
“I knew I could finish well if I focused on each shot, hit the fairway, got on in regulation and hit a solid putt,” Schroeder said. “It ended up being good enough.”

Aadyn Long carded a 5-over 221 in the tournament, marking her second collegiate tournament appearance and a career-best finish. After opening with a 5-over 77, the sophomore shot back-to-back rounds of 72 to tie for 12th.
Senior Berlin Long (74-79-70-223) tied for 19th at 7-over par. She tied her 18-hole career best in the third round with a 2-under 70, making five birdies, one bogey and one double bogey.
Schroeder, Aadyn Long and Berlin Long will look to build on their top-25 finishes as the season continues.
