The Cougars will open their conference schedule on the road at Arizona Friday night.

PROVO, Utah — No. 23 BYU women’s soccer (4-2-1, 0-0 Big 12) will take on the Wildcats on the road to open Big 12 play Friday night.

THE COUGARS. No. 23 BYU women’s soccer (4-2-1, 0-0 Big 12) lost its final non-conference match at Utah State 4-0 on Thursday, Sept. 10. This was the first game of the season where the Cougars were outshot and had more than one goal scored against them. After the loss, BYU fell 10 spots in the rankings, coming in at No. 23 heading into Big 12 play.

THE WILDCATS. Arizona (3-4-1, 0-0 Big 12) lost its final non-conference game on the road at Pepperdine 2-0 on Sunday, Sept. 13. Despite the loss, the Wildcats finished the match with a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks and held 51% of the possession. They increased their shot production from two attempts in the first half to six in the second.

COUGARS VS. WILDCATS. BYU and Arizona have faced 15 times in program history, with BYU leading the series 12-3, including a 5-2 advantage in Tucson, Arizona. In their last meeting in 2025, the Cougars defeated the Wildcats at South Field courtesy of Ellie Walbruch’s first career hat trick. BYU last took on Arizona at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium in 2024, falling 2-1.
