PROVO, Utah — The BYU women’s tennis team opens its 2026 fall season this week at the UTSA SoCal Championships in San Diego beginning Thursday, Sept. 24. All nine Cougars will compete in the 64-player singles draw.
Sage Bergeson, Chelsea Bluestein, Yuyun Chen, Cara Korhonen, Bella Lewis, Sephi Sheng, Sue Yan Tan, Allegra van der Walt and Angelique van der Walt will all compete in the singles draw at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center at the University of San Diego.
The tournament marks the first competition of the fall season for the Cougars. The UTSA SoCal Championships will give the team its first opportunity to compete this fall and gain valuable match experience.
In addition to the main draw, players who are eliminated will have the opportunity to compete in extra matches throughout the tournament.
The USTA SoCal Championships will take place from Sept. 24-27 in San Diego.
