THE COUGARS. No. 13 BYU women’s soccer (4-1-1, 0-0 Big 12) played two games at South Field last week, going 1-0-1. The Cougars defeated Colorado State 2-1 before tying Oklahoma 1-1, courtesy of a late goal in the 84’ minute by Sophie Sivulich. Mattyn Summers-Oviatt and Emma Hamberlin scored BYU’s goals against the Rams on Thursday, while Presley Freeman, Lucy Kesler and Kate Fuller added assists. After the busy weekend at South Field, BYU’s home record moved to 261-34-21. BYU moved up one spot in the polls to No. 13 in week five.
THE AGGIES. Utah State (4-2-1, 0-0 Pac-12) posted a 1-1 showing last week, beating Utah Tech 8-1 before falling to No. 24 Colorado 2-0 on Sunday. Against the Trailblazers, seven different Utah State players scored in what was the fourth-highest scoring performance in program history. Even though the Aggies fell to the Buffaloes, they recorded a 16-15 shot advantage, including seven shots on goal.
COUGARS VS. AGGIES. BYU and Utah State have faced off 21 times, with the Cougars holding the overall advantage 16-3-2. BYU played the Aggies twice at South Field last season, beating them 2-0 in the regular season and tying 1-1 in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. After a thrilling 11-round PK shootout, the Cougars moved on with a 7-6 advantage. The last time the Cougars played in Logan was back in 2023 when Utah State beat then-No. 1 BYU, 1-0.
