PROVO, Utah – BYU swim and dive opens their season on the road in Grand Junction, CO at the Intermountain Shootout hosted by Colorado Mesa, Friday and Saturday.

BYU opened the 2025-26 season with a sweep of the Intermountain Shootout with the men’s team scoring 518 points and women 450.5 points.
The 16th annual Intermountain Shootout will feature opponents Colorado Mesa, Adams State, Utah, Utah Tech (women only) and Western Colorado (women only).
Meet the Foes
Colorado Mesa finished the 2025-26 season as the men’s and women’s RMAC champions before going on to finish third in both the men’s and women’s NCAA Division II championships with the men scoring 416 points and women 328.5.
From Alamosa, Colorado and out of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), Adams State takes on BYU for the second year straight. The Cougars defeated the Grizzlies at the 2025 Intermountain Shootout.
Utah competes at the meet for the first time since 2024 where the BYU men’s team defeated them 139-60 and the women won 116-86. The Utes also faced off against the Cougars at the Richards Building Pool during the 2025-26 season where the BYU women’s team beat the Utes 160-140. The Cougars travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utes on Feb. 6.
Utah Tech women’s swim and dive joins BYU at the Shootout for the first time since 2021 where BYU defeated the then named Dixie State trailblazers 161-41.
The Western Colorado Mountaineers women's team out of Gunnison, Colorado also joins the meet to round out the competion.

The Cougars go on the road after a preseason meet at home at the Richards Building Pool. Notable returners from that meet included Lucca Ferreria and Tatum Cooley. Tanner Nelson and Haylee Tiffany also performed well at the Navy vs. Royal meet.
BYU will return to Provo following the meet to host the annual Alumni Meet on Oct. 10.
