Hedengren crossed the finish line in 19 minutes, 28 seconds on the Greiner Family OSU cross country course to win the Big 12 individual title for the second season in a row Saturday morning. She finished 10 seconds ahead of Oklahoma State's course record-holder Billah Jepkirui, helping BYU earn its fourth consecutive Big 12 team title.
This is the third meet that Hedengren has competed in during her sophomore season. She placed first at the UVU Invitational and set a course record, earning her the USTFCCCA NCAA DI Women's Athlete of the Week award in early September. She then took third at the Cowboy Jamboree, helping her teammates secure the second BYU win of the season.
Hedengren and the Cougars will continue their post-season schedule at the NCAA Mountain Regionals in Albuquerque, N.M. on Friday, Nov. 13. The women's race will begin at 11 a.m. MST.
