Education
Graduated from BYU with a degree in physical education in 1971. After graduating from BYU, Legas joined the Air Force and began a career in the military. In 1987, Legas graduated from Embry Riddle University with an M.S. aeronautical science.
Prior To BYU
Decorated pilot in the Air Force until his retirement in 1991. Joined the BYU coaching staff in 1992
Coach track and field at the Air Force Academy for four years
Playing Career
As an undergraduate at BYU, Legas earned three letters in football, four in track and field and held the record for the javelin throw
During his time in the Air Force he was a member of the All-Air Force track and field team nine times
Career Highlights
Qualified for the 1968 Olympic Trials in the javelin throw
Placed 11th in the javelin at the World Games in 1971
National Champion and set an American record in the Masters decathlon in 1981
Won the Masters National Championship in the pentathlon in 1993
