Conference play starts this week for BYU at New Mexico, but first the Cougar baseball team has a two-game series starting Monday with Colorado State-Pueblo at Miller Park.

Game times are at 4 p.m., on Monday and Tuesday as BYU, 9-4-1, hosts Division II power CSU-Pueblo, 10-13. Formerly known as the University of Southern Colorado, the Thunderwolves feature one of the top pitchers in the Rockies, righthander Jeff Williams, 6-5, 230, who has a 4-2 record with a 5.10 ERA.

BYU's starting pitcher for Monday's game will likely be junior Matt Jensen, 2-0, 4.97.

The Cougars bring a six-game winning streak into the contests with the Thunderwolves, having swept a three-game series at New Mexico State, 5-3, 11-7 and 22-8.

"We preach you can always score with two outs," said BYU Coach Vance Law. "It was gratifying for us to win in New Mexico."

Following the two games with CSU-Pueblo, the Cougars begin play in the Mountain West Conference in a three-game series at the University of New Mexico. Those MWC games at Albuquerque mark the season start of BYU broadcasts over KOVO Radio (960 AM).
