FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 28, 2017) – To commemorate its 15th annual postseason game, the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl announced its 2017 All-Anniversary Team, featuring former BYU players Cody Hoffman and Kyle Van Noy.
The team was voted on by a selection committee and recognizes the top bowl performances in the game’s history
Hoffman, BYU’s career leader in receptions and receiving yards, set an Armed Forces Bowl record with three touchdowns, including the game-winner with 11 seconds left in the Cougars’ 24-21 win over Tulsa in 2011. Hoffman was named the game’s Most Outstanding Player with eight receptions and 122 yards to go along with his three scores.
In the same game, current New England Patriot linebacker and Super Bowl champion, Kyle Van Noy wreaked havoc on the defensive side. He established Armed Forces Bowl records with five tackles for loss and two sacks. He also had 10 total tackles in the game.
Fifteen players on both offense and defense as well as five special teams players were named. The 15 offensive and defensive players honor the 15th anniversary, while the five special teams players give the All-Anniversary Team 35 total players, a nod to Lockheed Martin’s famous F-35 aircraft.
The All-Anniversary Team includes players from 17 different schools that have competed in the game since its inception. In addition, players from each of the previous 14 games were represented.
