PROVO, Utah — BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall today announced that junior running back Josh Quezada has decided to transfer from BYU.
“Josh is a great young man, and I appreciate all the hard work he has put in to help make our program successful,” Mendenhall said. “We will miss him, but I’m supportive of his future and his goals and wish the best for Josh and his family.”
Quezada played in all 13 games with one start as a sophomore in 2011 while helping BYU to a 10-3 record. A 5-foot-11, 225-pound native of La Habra, Calif., Quezada rushed for 298 yards on 86 carries last season and 505 yards on 99 attempts as a freshman in 2010. Overall, he appeared in all 26 games and totaled 803 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and six touchdowns while adding 67 yards and one touchdown on 12 receptions.
Quezada, who has two years of eligibility remaining, has not determined where he plans to transfer.
