Quotes

BYU head coach Dave Rose

On the game

"The thing that I am probably the most pleased with was the fact that in the first half our effort was determined by if we were playing well or not, which is totally unacceptable. The challenge at halftime was that your effort has to be sustained by your will and determination, not by how you're playing. That is where we won the game. It was all effort and execution in the second half, sustained over a long period of time. In the end, we were able to make a big play late to beat them on the pick-and-roll. Jashire naturally found Yoeli and it was an easy finish for him. What I'm really happy is we are going to learn a lot from this game no matter what the result was."

On game at UVU

"It's difficult with two instate games next week. We will get ready to take on a good, old team. There are a lot of seniors and redshirt juniors. They are by far much older than our group. Our preparation must be spot on. We have got to have two halves of effort like the one half we had tonight."

BYU forward Payton Dastrup

On the game

"It feels great. We knew that we could come out and play with intensity and execute the way we knew we could execute we would be able to come back to Provo 3-3. Effort was the main thing we focused on, it is something we can control. In the second half we were intense, we were fired up and knew we could control the variables."

On looking forward to UVU

"If we play the same way that we played the second half of this game we will come out with a victory, no doubt. We don't want to leave their gym with that sour, bitter feeling knowing that we have one more year until we can beat them again. We are going to go and give it our all."
