PROVO, Utah – BYU coach Dave Rose announced today that forwards Braiden Shaw and Ryan Andrus are out the remainder of the season due to injury.
A junior from Eagle, Idaho, Shaw has suffered two left ankle sprains that have limited him to one appearance this season. He will have season ending surgery on the ankle later this week.
Shaw played in 31 games and started twice as a sophomore in 2016-17. He averaged 1.4 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 58.1 percent from the field. Shaw posted season highs of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
As a freshman in 2015-16, Shaw appeared in 19 games. Prior to enrolling at BYU, Shaw served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sacramento, California.
Andrus has missed the entire season with knee issues. He recently had his left knee scoped and has begun physical therapy and rehab.
A sophomore from American Fork, Utah, Andrus played his freshman year in 2014-15. He averaged 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds while shooting 54.5 percent from the field and 72.2 percent from the free-throw line.
Following his freshman season, Andrus served a mission in Philadelphia.
