PROVO -- In-state rivalries will be renewed Saturday as No. 70 BYU hosts No. 72 Utah on a day that BYU seniors and a former state tennis champion will be honored.

The 10-13 Cougars are currently 1-4 in Mountain West Conference play heading into the last conference match of the season. The 12-9 Utes are 2-3 in conference play and will try to keep BYU from evening the score.

Seniors Chip Hand, Dominik Kaufhold and James Ludlow will all be honored for their contributions to the BYU tennis program. Together they combined for 196 singles wins in their careers.

The 1938 Utah state girls high school tennis champion will also be honored between the singles and doubles competition on Saturday. Della Williams Lawrence won the state championship on the BYU tennis courts with blisters on her hands and feet.

Williams was rewarded with a paper certificate because only the boys champions were given trophies. However, Lawrence will finally be rewarded with a trophy after 69 years.

"This is more than just another match," BYU head coach Brad Pearce said. "It will be everything that comes along with playing Utah, as well as a chance to hear a great story and honor a great lady."

The match will begin at noon at the BYU outdoor tennis courts. Admission is free and complimentary pizza and donuts will be provided to all in attendance. All BYU parking lots will be available for visitor parking as well.
