Temples, Simmons to join BYU for 2022 season

PROVO, Utah — BYU softball head coach Gordon Eakin announced today that Chloe Temples and Macy Simmons will join the Cougars this upcoming season. Both Temples and Simmons are juniors and will be eligible to play immediately.

"We are excited to welcome Macy and Chloe to our team," Eakin said. "They will make an immediate impact in our program both on and off the field."

Chloe Temples

Junior | Pitcher | Marianna, Florida | Stetson University

Temples comes to BYU after two seasons at Stetson University. She appeared in 36 games over two years for the Hatters and pitched 29 complete games. Last season, Temples recorded 88 strikeouts in 122.1 innings.

Prior to her college career, Temples prepped at Marianna High School, where she struck out over 700 batters across four seasons. She helped lead the Bulldogs to a 27-2-1 record, district championship, regional championship and their first FHSAA 5A Championship game in school history. 

Macy Simmons

Junior | Catcher | Chandler, Arizona | Arizona State University 

Simmons joins the Cougars after two years at Arizona State. Playing in 25 games over two seasons for the Sun Devils, she averaged .273 from the plate with a .318 slugging percentage and .308 on-base percentage. Simmons also posted a career .985 fielding percentage. 

Before playing in Tempe, Simmons prepped at Hamilton High School where she earned MaxPreps 2018 First Team All-American honors as a junior and finished her senior season with a .441 batting average, 41 hits, 28 RBI and 23 walks. Simmons also competed for the USA Junior National Team at the WBSC World Cup in 2019.
