PROVO, Utah – BYU gymnastics head coach Guard Young has released the schedule for the 2023 season.

The Cougars finished their 2022 season as the No. 24 team in the nation and made a run to the NCAA Regionals Tournament. The 2022 team finished the season with a 196.640 average and a 393.265 National Qualifying Score (NQS) to rank them among the top 25 programs in the nation.

After graduating seven seniors from the 2022 squad, the Cougars are hard at work preparing younger gymnasts for new roles and higher demands on the four competing events.

"I am so excited for the depth of talent we have on our team this year," said associate head coach Natalie Broekman. "The Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference is a strong conference all the way around. Our schedule is going to give us many opportunities to compete with the best in the nation."

During the 2023 season, the Cougars are scheduled to participate in 11 meets leading up to the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Championships in Cedar City, Utah on Saturday, March 18.

The schedule starts with BYU’s first trip to the Super16 gymnastics meet in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, Jan. 7. The Cougars will take on Arizona State, Cal University and Iowa State in the Vegas meet.

Following their trip to Vegas, the Cougars will compete in the fourth annual Rio Tinto Best of Utah Gymnastics Meet against University of Utah, Southern Utah University and Utah State University on Friday, Jan. 13 at the Maverik Center.

BYU will go on to host three meets in the Marriott Center and one meet in the Smith Fieldhouse. The first home meet will take place on Jan. 20 when the Cougars host MRGC rival Boise State. The rivalries continue as BYU hosts SUU (Feb. 10) and USU (Feb. 24). In March, BYU will welcome Alaska Anchorage to the Marriott Center.

A few out-of-state meets include visiting No. 20 Ohio State (Mar. 3) and No. 26 Arizona (Mar. 10).
