"We're really excited this year to add seven great incoming freshman to our team," said BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood. "It's always a big day for each of these girls. We're going to bring in a lot of Utah girls this year that we've known for a long time and we're excited about that. All of these girls have been to camps over the years and we're really familiar with them. We couldn't be more excited to add all of them to a great returning cast that we have. We have five girls from Utah, a girl from Oregon and one from northern California.
The thing we love most about all these girls is that they're amazing athletes, great competitors and have played at the highest levels. We're really looking forward to seeing them out on South Field."
All seven recruits combine for numerous state championships and each one has had at least two All-State recognitions. A well-balanced mix of players will add to the cast of returning players who recently finished their first season in the WCC with its seventh-straight winning season and 16th overall since 1995.
The incoming freshmen will join the Cougars in early August as they chase a WCC title and NCAA berth. The Cougars begin their 2012 campaign on the road against No. 28 UC Irvine on August 17.
