BYU Women's Swimming And Diving Team Win Lobo Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE -- The BYU women's swimming and diving team finished in first place at the Lobo Invitational, Friday and Saturday. The Cougars scored 979 points, finishing ahead of second-place New Mexico, who scored 744 points. Other schools participating included Northern Arizona, New Mexico State, Northern Colorado, Houston and North Texas.

Sophomore Heidi Lietz had a great weekend, winning the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, 100 fly, and helping the 200 free, 200 medley and 400 free relay teams to first-place finishes. Freshman Ashlee Rumfallow also performed well, winning the 400 IM, finishing second in the 200 IM, and swimming on the winning 200 free and 400 free relay teams.

Senior Jennifer Tasker captured first-place in the 100 and 200 breast, beating out teammates Nikki Tadlock and Amanda Grant in both events. Tadlock finished second in the 100 breast and third in the 200 breast while Grant finished third in the 100 breast and second in the 200 breast. Tasker also swam on the winning 200 medley relay team. Grant was a member of the winning 200 free, 400 free and 200 medley relay teams while Tadlock was on the victorious 200 free relay team.

At the other end of the pool, Anna Tutunnikova won the 3-meter springboard event while teammate Kelli Einfeldt placed third. Einfeldt also finished second on the 1-meter board.

The women's and men's swimming teams both have the week off while the women's and men's divers travel to Los Angeles to compete in the USC Invitational, Nov. 16-18.
