LAKEWOOD, Wash. – With three top-10 finishes from Rose Huang, Brooklyn Hocker and Alexandra White, the BYU women’s golf team took second place in the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational on Tuesday at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club.

“Overall, we had two really great rounds,” BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. “Our third round was the best round of the tournament. If we would have played better in the first round we would have done away with the tournament, but it was a confidence booster being that close to the defending champion, Washington.”

BYU finished the invitational at 19-over-par shooting two-under-par on the day. The team was able to pull into second place after finishing the first day in third. The Cougars’ third round score of 286 (-2) was the lowest score of the tournament.

Instate rival UVU concluded the tournament in 10th place at 55-over-par while Weber State finished in eighth place shooting 51-over-par. West Coast Conference foe Gonzaga ended the invitational in fifth place with a score of 899 (+35).

Huang finished the tournament tied for fourth place shooting an even par of 216 over 54 holes. In her last round, Huang shot a total of 67 (-5), the lowest round of golf in the tournament

“Rose had an incredible round today,” Roberts said. “They changed the tees overnight so it was a challenge, but she played very well. She saved us shooting five-under-par.”

Teammates Hocker and White ended the event tied for 10th place. They both shot one-over-par on the day moving them up from their 11th place position yesterday. The two teammates finished the tournament shooting six-over-par.

Junior Kendra Dalton finished the tournament tied for 15th place as she shot one-over-par on the day and eight-over-par overall. Freshman Anna Kennedy tied for 50th place shooting 18-over-par.

Lauren Atkinson also participated in the event as an individual competitor. Atkinson finished tied for 27th, shooting 12-over-par on the tournament and just one-over-par in the final 18 holes.

The Cougars will travel to Hawaii to participate in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Nov. 1-3, where they will compete in their fifth tournament of the fall season.
